All of the mining companies that intend to explore for oil, gas and other minerals in South Africa have listed Seismic Testing as one method of identifying possible sources of oil and gas. While the Background Information Documents state that “Seismic testing may disrupt wildlife and eco-system functionality”, it would appear that the Environmental Consultants are not making the connection between soil health and its impact on other eco-systems above ground, including riparian invertebrates.
